Library's response to coronavirus outbreak

3/14/2020

To Jackson City Library Patrons and Jackson Community;

On Friday, March 13, Jackson City Library Leadership Team decided to temporarily close the library until at least April 6. THIS HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL AT LEAST APRIL 30.  This closure is meant to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The decision mirrors the state’s decision to close K-12 schools until April 30. Many of Ohio’s libraries have had to make similar decisions to end in-person interactions including our friends at the State Library of Ohio, The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Columbus Metropolitan Libraries, Oak Hill Public Library, Sylvester Memorial Public Library, and countless others.

The decision to close the library was not made lightly. We are entering unchartered territory and we feel this is the right decision at this time. We are saddened by the need and are looking forward to being open and serving the public as soon as it is appropriate.

In the meantime, please take advantage of free eBooks, audiobooks, movies, and more through the library’s Libby and Hoopla apps. We have temporarily increased the monthly limits on Hoopla until we reopen. Materials that are currently out will not be due back until we reopen but can be placed in either of our two outdoor returns at any time.

At the moment all external meeting room usage and programs are cancelled through May 4th.

Further updates will be communicated in the local media, Facebook, and the Library’s website.

Sincerely,

 Roger Donaldson, Director
